Headquarters
On August 20,
2005, the Washington, D.C. Alumnae Foundation celebrated the grand
opening of its house/headquarters at 2728 Sherman Avenue NW,
Washington, D.C. This property was donated to the Foundation by the
D.C. Council on Clothing for Kids, Inc. upon its disbandment as a
501(c)(3) organization. The late Mrs. Annette C. Reid was the
former CEO and President of the D.C. Council on Clothing for
Kids.
The Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Mrs. Reid, her
family, and the Board of Directors for donating this house to the
Foundation.
The Sherman Avenue property is also an historic landmark, once the
residence of the legendary Duke Ellington.
The house is currently occupied by The National Partnership for
Community Leadership (NPCL). This is a non-profit organization
created as a resource for individuals and family serving agencies
seeking knowledge and solutions to father absence in the lives of
poor children.
