To
Request a Grant
The Foundation awards grants annually to
non-profit organizations
with a project or activity
that
support
charitable educational, cultural, technological,
economical and scientific
development programs.
Each request for funding submitted must meet the following criteria
in order to be considered:
•
Must be
organized and implemented exclusively for charitable,
religious, educational, or scientific purposes.
•
Targeted for
the needs of underserved individuals or groups
in Washington, D.C.
•
Must not use
requested funds for administrative purposes.
•
Has not received a grant from the Foundation during the
immediate past two calendar years.
All requests for funding must be submitted in writing on the
organization's official letterhead. The application shall
include the following information:
•
Brief history of the organization with the name, address, telephone
number, and e-mail address of the person coordinating the
project or activity;
•
A description of the proposed project or activity, work plan and
inception date;
•
Organization's website address;
•
Statement of need with estimate of number of persons to be
served by the project/activity;
•
Proposed budget outlining how funds will be utilized;
•
A list of other potential funding sources;
•
Procedure for evaluating project/activity, and;
•
A copy of the organization's Non-Profit certificate.
All 2011 grant requests must be received by the Chair of the
Washington, D.C. Alumnae Foundation, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. by
September 30, 2011.

Grants will be awarded at the Annual Breakfast Fashion Show and
Auction in December.
Current Recipient Profiles
The Foundation profiles three of its 2011 grant awardees:
Ascensions
Ascensions Psychological and Community Services, provides holistic psychological interventions to disempowered women and their families living in DC's most impoverished communities east of the Anacostia River (Wards 7 and 8). The WDCAF grant will aid its Mommy and Me 2012 Program (a ten month school-based program incorporating principles of Mrs. Obama's "Let Move" campaign).
In the Pink
This organization provides financial assistance, education and advocacy for women of color diagnosed with breast cancer. The WDCAF grant will support low-income, under-served women in D.C. who are undergoing breast cancer treatment throught their participation in YOGA (Your Own Greatness Affirmed).
KEEN
KEEN is a non-profit organization that provides exercise and recreation programs in the Washington DC metropolitan area for children, teens, and young aduits with significant developmental disabilities. WDCAF grant award will support DC Sports, Music and Swim Programs.
